Broadband Infraco services are based upon the provision of high capacity managed bandwidth from Point of Presence (POP) to POP within our National Long Distance fibre-optic network.
Bandwidth
Services are Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) based and available in the following bandwidths:
- STM-1 or 155 Megabits (minimum)
- STM-4 or 622 Megabits
- STM-16 or 2.5 Gigabits
- STM-64 or 10 Gigabits
Flexibility
Services can be bought on an Indefeasible Rights of Use (IRU) or Leased Circuit basis. An IRU is equivalent to ownership of a portion of the cable for its remaining lifetime (typically 10 years), particularly suited to large operators with long term bandwidth requirements that have the capital to take advantage of volume discounts.
Leased Circuits offer customers more flexibility in that they can be taken over shorter periods than an IRU and the cost is spread over the lease period, avoiding upfront capital expense. Broadband Infraco offers Leased Circuits on a 1, 3, or 5 year basis.
